New Volume (IV): Lest We Disappear
Loss of biodiversity is among the most pressing, if underestimated, challenges facing humanity today. Addressing it adequately demands a reshaping of our attitudes toward and treatment of life and the space in which it happens. One of the goals of this book is to encourage such changes by bringing its readers closer to a shared understanding of what is happening, why, and what might be done about it. A portion of its sales will be used to support the preservation and protection of species.

The Antarctic: Connecting the Dots
(SPML 2018)
The Antarctic: Connecting the Dots visits the Antarctic, a region of the world that is for most as out of sight as it is out of mind. Yet it is a place filled not only with wonder but also with evidence
integral to science, and namely the study of global weather. We show why we need to consider this region if we are to fully understand the implications of the changing environment. At the same time, our goal is to emphasize it is the responsibility of the few visiting the region to not only describe, study, and protect it, but also to communicate the findings to the public in a principled manner. The photo
collection channels this responsibility.
The Arctic: Giving Back
(SPML 2018)
The Arctic: Giving Back engages change in the Arctic, a region whose ecosystem as well as peoples have borne the brunt of our interventions from within and afar. The goal of the volume is to make an appeal to return the environmental and social debt made not only by the early visitors, but also by our contemporary, hydrocarbon-intensive society. Given the deep impacts of the warming climate on Arctic ecosystems, as well as the importance of this region to the global system, we appeal for broad recognition of this liability. Returning the debt, possible in more ways than one, then becomes the conscious, collective choice with benefit to all. The book’s photo set has been designed to help the reader make this choice.
The Himalayas: Feeling the Myth
(SPML 2018)
The Himalayas: Feeling the Myth takes a different look at the Himalayas. While the Himalayas, for many the planet’s third pole, are so often mentioned in the debates on the environment, we choose a different emphasis. We recognize it is tourism, politics, environment, and economics which together have significant impacts on the region’s ecology. We invite the reader to contemplate the change as uneven and multidimensional, positive and negative. Engaging this change, we argue, requires an appreciation of history as well as a broader view of regional developments, and must always begin with appropriate questions. The photo mosaic of the region has thus been assembled to facilitate a critical reflection and stimulate questions.
Thu Je Chhe: A Collection of Buddhist Essences
(POLY 2009)
Motivated by frequent and sincere requests, I had gathered together over a hundred and eighty pictures showing views of the Himalaya from Tibet, Sikkim, Bhutan, Nepal. I added several popular shots from other Buddhist countries of south-east Asia. I wanted them to be representative, contain a strong message and, moreover, reflect the richness, variety and diversity of these regions. However, having finished my work I missed something…The two-dimensional pictures lacked an additional dimension – a spiritual cover. That is the reason why I decided to “wrap” my pictures in a collection of Buddhist essences I had chosen from the above mentioned “jewels of wisdom”. Thus I would like to create a “bridge” between the photographs and readers. Through these essences I want to share with the public and dharma students various options and views that occurred in front of me as well as an obviously simple while nevertheless complicated base of the main Buddhist ideas.
